Robert Young | Volunteer Assistant Coach
Robert Young joined the Duke staff in August of 2016 and serves as the program’s volunteer assistant coach. His primary responsibilities include assisting with the outfielders and overall team defensive strategy.
After training his younger brother to a professional career that included a stint in Major League Baseball,
Young, who specializes in instructional training of batting and defensive fundamentals, has spent over 30 years coaching softball. He has directed four squads to ASA national championships while coaching dozens of young women to the college level, including multiple collegiate All-America selections.
A native of Santa Ana, Calif., Young is the father of Duke head coach Marissa Young. He and his wife, Marcella, reside in Durham.
